Welcome to the Adult Learning Center at Queens Library in Flushing

The Flushing Adult Learning Center (Flushing ALC) is part of the Queens Borough Public Library's Adult Learner Program, and is located at the Flushing Community Library. The Center provides resources to adult learners in various capacities. We maintain an extensive collection of print and electronic media resources. We also have a variety of web-based distant learning resources and Multimedia materials to help adult immigrants learn English, and adult new readers navigate the community. The Flushing ALC also offers a variety of programs targeted to help members of the community enhance their upward mobility aspirations. Last year, the program served approximately 500 adults in the community.

The Adult Learning Center at Queens Library in Flushing serves as a multilingual information resource and referral center, and provides immigrant families with a wide array of instructional, vocational, recreational, family support, and social services. Instructional services include: ABE (Adult Basic Education), Pre-HSE (High School Equivalency), ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Citizenship classes; as well as Job Readiness/Resume Preparation Workshops, Small Literacy/English Learning Groups, Computer-Assisted Instruction, Monthly Cultural Workshops & Center Outings, Independent Learning Materials, and an Extensive Book and Multimedia Collection.
