Back-to-School: Read to a Dog

Location: North Hills
Registration: Not required

Children can select a book to read aloud to Jami, who has been certified as a therapy pet partner. Reading aloud improves literacy skills, and animals are ideal reading companions because they create a relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment. Space is limited and available first-come, first-served.

Tweens and teens will work together to create, design, and write a new issue of "The North Hills Gazette." Past issues have included feature articles, book reviews, artwork, and opinion pieces. Teens who cannot attend the program in person can email their articles to northhillsqpl@gmail.com. Please include your first name and grade.

Thank you for your interest in the Friends of the Library at Queens Library.

We currently do not have a Friends group at this location, however, kindly contact the Friends Administrator (friends@queenslibrary.org) to find an active Friends group near you. 

Friends Chapters enrich community life around their community library. You will meet other people who care, and you will benefit your neighborhood by:

• Increasing community awareness and library use.
• Acting as liaisons between community and your library.
• Sponsoring programs that enhance the cultural life of your community.

As a Friend, you will:

• Educate your community about Queens Library’s vital services.
• Contribute your time towards programs and special activities at your library.
• Advocate for better library service to your own community through outreach, legislative contact, and fundraising.
